On our trip to Marrakech we decided to take a day to hike through the nearby mountains (guided by our wonderful friend Farid). The day began with a traditional breakfast in a Berber home, followed by a camel ride. Then the two-hour hike through the mountains to a waterfall, and finally, a multi-course Moroccan meal… some of my favorite food. I saw a city, desert, forest and waterfalls, palm trees and snow caps all in a single day.

Look carefully at the picture—there’s a town nested in the valley that’s only accessible by donkey.
